60+ IRS Fixes Are Waiting on Congress

A big IRS cleanup bill is sitting in the Senate. It has more than 60 changes, including better online accounts, more callback options, faster handling of refunds, and tougher rules for bad tax preparers. The Senate Finance Committee already approved it 26 to 1.
Now tax pros want the full Senate to actually vote on it. The National Association of Tax Professionals says the bill could make the IRS easier to deal with while also creating clearer standards for paid preparers. So the interesting part is not what is in the bill anymore. It is whether Congress gets around to passing it.

Construction Accounting Just Got $30M

Construction accounting is messy because the numbers are everywhere except where they should be. Schedules. Emails. Daily logs. Some guy named Rick’s memory. Adaptive uses AI agents to chase it all down, code invoices, track change orders, prep billings, and help with WIP so finance teams can stop playing detective.
Investors just handed Adaptive $30 million to keep going. More than 750 construction companies already use it, plus 40+ accounting firms. The AI does the boring work. Humans still approve everything before it hits the books, which is probably smart because we’re not quite ready to let a robot explain a $400,000 change order in court.
What’s poppin in accounting🍿
The IRS Wants to Kill Paper Checks

The IRS wants tax payments and refunds to go electronic. Most already do. In 2024 and 2025, 88% of all IRS transactions were electronic, and businesses paid the IRS electronically 97% of the time. But when the IRS owed businesses a refund, only 0.7% of those refunds were sent electronically. That is the part the IRS is trying to fix.
The IRS is changing forms so businesses can add bank information and get refunds by direct deposit. Sounds easy until you remember some people do not have bank accounts, use much technology, or avoid electronic payments for religious reasons. The switch has already caused delays, with more than 1 million taxpayers getting notices tied to refund problems.

America Went From Factories to Hospitals

In 1990, factories ran the job market. Now health care does. And the reason is pretty simple. America got older, more people need care, and hospitals kept hiring like crazy.
Meanwhile, factories figured out how to make more stuff with fewer workers. So the biggest job engine in America went from building cars and machines to keeping people alive. Kinda wild.
