WTF of the Day🤯
Three Years Old. Worth More Than £1 Billion.

Most new accounting firms are still building a client list after three years. Sumer has reached a valuation above £1 billion. Its founder, former KPMG executive Warren Mead, took a faster route by buying smaller practices. The British group now has more than 3,000 staff and roughly £300 million in annual revenue. Those local firms keep much of their freedom while sharing resources and support.
Now US investment giant TPG is reportedly backing the business. But Sumer’s existing investor, Penta Capital, isn’t simply selling and leaving. It’s setting up a new fund that lets existing investors cash out while Penta stays involved and TPG becomes the lead investor. The appeal is easy to follow. Small businesses keep needing accounting help in good times and bad. Put enough of those client relationships together, and Wall Street starts paying attention.

Buy a Jet. Take the Tax Deduction Now.

Private jet dealers have a powerful sales pitch. Buy a qualifying business aircraft and deduct its full eligible cost in year one. A 2026 tax law restored 100% bonus depreciation, letting businesses claim the deduction upfront instead of spreading it across years. Eligible used jets count, too. Honeywell expects new business jet deliveries to rise 5% in 2026, with the tax break helping fuel demand.
Buyers still pay for the aircraft, pilots, fuel, maintenance, and somewhere to park it. The jet generally needs more than 50% qualified business use and must be ready and available for business, not merely ordered. If that use later drops below the required level, some tax benefits may have to be paid back. The deduction makes the sales pitch better. It doesn’t make a bad purchase good.

Weekly Trend Chart 📊
China’s 8.7 Million Babies Aren’t Enough

Some kindergarten owners in China have found a new customer. Older people. As enrollment falls, they’re turning schools into nursing homes. That’s what a population shift looks like before it becomes a line on a chart. China’s kindergarten enrollment dropped by roughly 12 million children between 2020 and 2024.
The UN’s 2025 projections show where this is heading. China had roughly 3 million more deaths than births, while India had 13.4 million more births than deaths, before migration. One country needs room for more children. The other is finding new uses for their classrooms. For businesses, that changes what people buy, who gets hired, and where the next customer comes from.
