🤯 WTF of the Day

Older Workers Just Lost a Tax Break on 401(k)
If you’re 50+ and make over $150k, the IRS just flipped the rules on catch-up 401(k) contributions. Any extra money you put in now has to go into a Roth, not a traditional 401(k).
How much are we talking?
Ages 50–59: up to $8,000 extra
Ages 60–63: up to $11,250 extra
This isn’t about helping savers. It’s about the government pulling tax revenue forward. For some people, Roth still makes sense long-term.
But a lot of workers are going to feel this in their paycheck and won’t even know why. If you’re eligible, double check your plan, some won’t let you do catch-ups at all unless you opt into Roth.

🍿 What’s poppin in accounting

58% of accountants are thinking about quitting in 2026.
According to a survey from Spencer Clarke Group. Not leaving the profession. Just leaving their firm.
And it’s not about money. Only 15% said higher pay is the reason. What they actually want is flexibility, hybrid work, and a real path to move up.
Firms keep pushing return to office and calling it “culture.” Accountants aren’t buying it. They don’t hate accounting. They hate unclear promotions, bad management, and fake collaboration.
The signal is loud. Accountants are staying in the game. They’re just walking away from firms stuck in 2015.

AI Is Quietly Becoming Everyone’s Second Opinion
OpenAI says over 40 million health questions are already asked every day. Now they’ve launched ChatGPT Health, where users can upload medical records and data from wearables to get more informed before seeing a doctor. It’s meant to help people prepare, not replace medical care.
A recent AMA study found two-thirds of U.S. physicians used AI in 2024, up from 38% the year before. Many use it for notes and paperwork, but a surprising number also use it for risk prediction, treatment guidance, and even diagnosis.
AI isn’t replacing doctors. It’s becoming their second brain.
