The Friday Lowdown ⬇️
If you're new around here, every day I share the 4-5 best accounting insights I saw in the past 24 hours.
I scroll. so you don't have to.
💎 WTF of the Day

Deloitte Accused of Making Trade Secrets Claims
Deloitte’s ex-partner Sagitec just hit them with a defamation lawsuit. After their business split, Deloitte allegedly told clients that Sagitec stole trade secrets. Sagitec says that’s a lie, but those accusations have already torched their reputation and cost them contracts.
They want to get paid for damages and a public correction. Deloitte’s staying quiet for now, but if this heads to trial, expect subpoenas, email dumps, and some corporate drama worth watching.
💎 What’s poppin in accounting

Tariffs Are Back and CPAs Are the First Line of Defense
Tariffs are back on the menu. Accountants better get ahead of it or risk cleaning up a mess later. The advice:
Audit your client’s supply chain, see what’s being imported and from where.
Build “what if” cost scenarios in case tariffs spike again.
Help clients figure out if they can source locally or renegotiate supplier contracts.
Keep cash flow tight, tariffs = surprise expenses.
If they export, double check what they might get hit with in retaliation.
Most business owners are too busy to think about this stuff, but if you bring it up first? You’re not just a tax guy, you’re a damn hero.
📊 Weekly Trend Chart

The Art World Is Having a Nervous Breakdown
The ultra rich are ghosting the fine art world. Auction house sales of $10M+ pieces are down 48%. Why? Unclear. Maybe billionaires finally realized their kids don’t care about Van Gogh and just want JPEG monkeys.
While the rich crowd pulls back, affordable art is exploding. Prints, posters, and sub $10K pieces are flying off shelves. Middle class folks are snapping up original art faster than ever - online, at street fairs, even in TikTok lives.
And honestly? It’s kind of awesome. The next Warhol might be a barista from Portland selling mushrooms in space paintings on Instagram.
