The Friday Lowdown ⬇️
Sorry I missed yesterday. Found my laptop under my kid’s toy chest. Blame them, not me.
Thinking about building something new for you guys, don’t worry the newsletter isn’t going anywhere, this would just be a bonus.

💎 WTF of the Day

Fired America’s Audit Watchdog. Here’s Why It Matters.
The lady in charge of keeping corporate auditors honest? She’s out. Erica Williams just got pushed out by Trump’s SEC, and now the $400M audit watchdog (aka PCAOB) is leaderless… again.
Why should you care? Because this little known board keeps Wall Street from turning into the Wild West. But Trump’s crew might kill it entirely and hand the power to the SEC. Investors want clean audits. The feds want control. And your retirement savings are stuck in the middle.
Enron 2.0 incoming...

💎 What’s poppin in accounting

These 100 Accounting Firms Are Actually Fun to Work At (No, Really)
Almost 200 firms applied. Only 100 made the cut. Accounting Today just dropped its 2025 Best Firms to Work For list, and it’s not just about ping-pong tables and pizza Fridays.
The list ain’t based on corporate BS, firms were judged on how they treat people: 25% came from policies and perks, but 75% came from employees themselves.
Just real deal workplaces where people aren’t secretly job hunting.
Full rankings drop in September.
📊 Weekly Trend Chart

Eggs Are Expensive as Hell. Here’s the Real Reason.
Eggs are up 27%. Not because chickens are lazy, but because farmers are killing them. Why? Bird flu is back, and when one chicken gets sick, the whole flock gets the axe.
Good old uncle Sam PAYS them to do it. Over a billion dollars in “bird flu bailout” money. So now farmers are like, “Sick bird? Cool, time to cash out.”
Mix that with Trump’s new tariffs and AI sucking up power like a Dyson, and suddenly your coffee, steak, and electricity bills are all going up.
But gas is cheaper. TVs too. Welcome to the weirdest economy ever.
