Florida Tax Preparer Stole $2M.. You Paid for It
This guy straight up robbed taxpayers. A Florida tax preparer filed over 500 bogus returns, inflating refunds and pocketing the extra cash, $2 million worth. And guess what? That missing money? It didn’t come from the IRS’s pocket, it came from yours.
He promised clients huge refunds, fudged the numbers, and took a cut of the stolen cash. Now, he’s facing federal charges and up to 20 years in prison, but that won’t put the money back into the system.
Meanwhile, regular people get audited for making an honest mistake on a W-2.

Remote Accounting Jobs Are Disappearing
Remember when remote work was the future? Yeah, accounting firms are trying to kill that dream. A new report shows remote accounting jobs are drying up, with firms pushing employees back into the office.
They blame productivity and collaboration, but let’s be real, it’s about control. Big firms want their people where they can see them, and some are even cutting remote job listings entirely. If you’re an accountant who values flexibility, start polishing that resume or negotiating harder.

Paperbacks Are Dying and Publishers Love It
Turns out, publishers love hardcovers way more than paperbacks, not because they last longer, but because they make way more money off them. Hardcovers have higher price tags, bigger profit margins, and drive more preorders, so publishers are dragging their feet on releasing paperbacks (or skipping them entirely).
If you’re wondering why your favorite book never gets a cheap paperback version anymore, it’s because publishers figured out you’ll just buy the hardcover instead. Bad news for budget readers, great news for their bottom line.
