WTF of the Day🤯

The IRS Crypto Scam Now Has QR Codes

The IRS scam used to be some guy yelling on the phone about gift cards. Now it shows up as a real-looking government letter with a QR code and a fake “Digital Asset Compliance Portal.” That phrase is the trick. It sounds boring enough to be real. The IRS says scammers are mailing these notices to crypto holders, sending them to a fake IRS site, then getting them to hand over personal information.

This is not some sloppy basement scam. Investigators said the site was built days before the letters went out, registered through Hong Kong, and hosted in Romania on a network already tied to fake FedEx and banking pages. Basically, an international fraud shop put on an IRS costume. Accountants should care because clients still trust paper. They may ignore sketchy emails all day, then panic when a letter with an IRS logo and a deadline lands in the mailbox.

Accounting Firms Have An Internship Problem

Accounting firms say they need young talent. Accounting students say they want internships. Somehow, both sides are still missing each other. In one survey, only 42% of students had completed an internship, even though most of the students without one wanted one. The problem was not that students were lazy. The process was confusing, the timelines were weird, and half the game seemed to be knowing the right person.

Which is insane. Firms are out here crying about a talent shortage while the best internships quietly go to the CFO’s nephew. Then firms act shocked when the remaining students are not polished little Excel machines by junior year. The fix is simple. Make the process clear. Train them. Give them a mentor. Tell them how they are doing. Do that, and internships stop being a rich kid scavenger hunt. They become a hiring machine.

Weekly Trend Chart 📊

The Bones We Break Most Are The Boring Ones

The most commonly broken bones are not the dramatic ones. It is not the skull. It is not the ribs. It is the boring daily-life stuff. Ankles roll. Shins get clipped. Knees hit the ground. Then your forearm takes over because every human has the same brilliant emergency plan when they fall, throw an arm out and hope physics is feeling generous.

The body parts we break most are the ones doing the dirty work all day, walking, catching, slipping, bracing, and absorbing bad landings. The hip is the one exception that tells a darker story. It shows up more often in women, mostly because bone strength drops with age, and one ordinary fall can turn into a life changing injury fast.
