Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.

Japan’s Accounting Scandal Started at the Top

Imagine telling your boss the company needs to record a loss, then getting told off because it would ruin his profit target. That’s the culture described in a new report from Nidec, a Japanese company that makes electric motors. Founder Shigenobu Nagamori pushed for a $1.5 billion operating profit target, even if expenses weren’t booked when they belonged. The report says losses were pushed into later periods, making earnings look better than they were.

Eventually, those losses had to show up. Nidec reported a ¥519 billion operating loss after a massive asset write-down. Its shares have lost more than a third of their value since late September, and it risks losing its stock exchange listing. Now the company may seek damages from former leaders. The people pressured to protect the profit numbers helped create a much bigger bill.

Wall Street’s Cop Is Writing Fewer Tickets

The SEC brought 308 enforcement actions in fiscal 2026, 57% below its eight-year average. That’s a big slowdown for the agency meant to police Wall Street. But it doesn’t tell us that misconduct fell. Brattle Group points to fewer staff, a government shutdown, and leadership changes as factors slowing the work.

SEC Chairman Paul Atkins says the agency is choosing its fights, putting fraud and individual wrongdoers ahead of chasing big case counts and penalties. Insider trading made up its largest share of cases since 2018, though a bigger share doesn’t mean more cases. The question is what fewer actions actually buy investors. A sharper focus on serious harm, or more misconduct slipping through? The case count alone can’t answer that.

Weekly Trend Chart 📊

Same Country. Very Different Job Markets.

A federal worker loses their job. The lunch spot near the office loses a regular. The city loses tax revenue. One layoff can hit more than one bank account. D.C.’s unemployment rate reached 5.7% in August, the highest nationwide, as federal job cuts put pressure on the local economy. South Dakota’s rate was just 2%.

Even adding jobs doesn’t tell the whole story. California gained 138,500 jobs over the year, but private education and health services accounted for nearly all that net growth. Other industries cut back. “The economy is hiring” means very little if your line of work isn’t. Before planning your next hire or career move, look past the national average.
